Leh, April 04, 2021: BJP State Media Secretary Union Territory of Ladakh, Mohd Hassan Pasha met Lieutenant Governor Ladakh R K Mathur at Raj-Bhawan Leh here today.

Hassan Pasha discussed and briefed various issues of UT Ladakh and especially of Sodh Block of Kargil District in his meeting with the LG.

In his memorandum to the LG Ladakh, Hassan Pasha demanded for development of Kargil Airport and urged to start work as soon as possible in order to provide connectivity to the land locked region of Kargil.

The memorandum urged for the early completion of Kargil Airport Expansion, introduction of Civil Air Service to Kargil and early operation of Air Service under UDAN-2 and UDAN-4 (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik).

The BJP media secretary while raising the unemployment issues of Ladakh said, “Sir, as you are aware that it’s been seventeen months since the formation of Union Territory of Ladakh and over the past one year we all have been seriously concerned about the unemployment issues in Ladakh. It is imperative that this issue be addressed by the Administration of UT Ladakh so that the apprehensions among the youth could be addressed. On one hand around 7000 vacancies are available and on the other hand there is extreme shortage of staff in the UT. Moreover, recruitment via the outsourcing is putting the educated but unemployed youth under extreme stress”.

Pasha demanded Sub-divisional status for Sodh Block Area, which is 45 kms far from the district headquarters. “We appeal to your Hon’ble self to ensure and provide sub-divisional status to the Sodh Block without further delay to ensure equitable development of the area”, the memorandum pleaded.

Considering the water shortage the memorandum demanded a lift Irrigation Project for Sodh.

“The entire Sodh block faces drought-like situation due to non-availability of any reliable irrigational channel which can be averted by the construction of a Lift Irrigation System. Work on the project was started some years back. However, it is languishing since then due to the lack of funds.”

Pasha further demanded compensation to meet famine situation in Sodh. “We request for a special package for Sodh Block, which is facing unprecedented drought. We urged the UT Administration to declare Sodh Block as a famine-hit area”.

In his reply, the LG R.K Mathur considered every issue with a great and open-minded vision and was thus concluded to help in every way possible to proved help to the Ladakh region and its people, especially the District Kargil-Ladakh, said the press release issued by the politicalparty.

In accordance to other issues, he stated that the issues would be discussed with their concerned departments and will be resolved at any cost.

At the end Pasha Requested the LG Ladakh to visit Sodh Block Kargil District so that he can consider all the above mentioned issues and various other issues facing by the people of Sodh Block at the ground.
