Secretary Ravinder takes stock of developmental activities under PDD, Sports, Cooperatives, Fisheries
KARGIL, MARCH 08, 2021: On the 3rd day of his Kargil visit, Secretary Sports, PDD, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Cooperatives and Fisheries UT Ladakh, Ravinder Kumar today took stock of various developmental activities in PDD, Sports, Cooperatives and Fisheries sectors at Khachan, Minjee, Latoo and Drass .
The Secretary was accompanied by the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Drass, Asgar Ali, Executive Engineer PDD, Kargil Altaf Hussain, Executive Engineer Sub Transmission Division, PDD, Kargil, Wahab Ali, Executive Engineer REW Gulzar Hussain Munshi, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma, Project Director KREDA Kacho Ahmad Khan, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives (DRC), Kargil Dr Zakir Hussain, Assistant Director Fisheries Murtaza Ali besides other concerned officers.
The Secretary visited the Cooperative Super Market Complex at Kargil Town where the DRC, Kargil briefed him about the future plan of the newly constructed complex. The Secretary was informed that the department has plan to provide space to Self Help Groups and other women societies to open their outlets.
During his visit to the Apricot Processing Unit at Hardass, the Secretary instructed the concerned officers to prepare estimates and give requisition for replacement of machinery at the processing unit. The officers informed that a traditional cold storage is also under construction at the site.
The Secretary also visited Latoo village and inspected the lift irrigation system of KREDA where a 50 KW AC pump is successfully functional with a capacity to pull water at 110 meter height.
The villagers of Latoo submitted a memorandum to the Secretary demanding Actual Line of Control Certificate, sports infrastructure and mobile connectivity. The Secretary assured to develop the Sports infrastructure while also assuring to take up other issues with the concerned departments.
At Drass, the Secretary visited Ice Hockey rink and Horse Polo ground at Goshan where he instructed the concerned officers to develop the roofing, changing room, compound walling and other necessary facilities for VIPs, players and spectators, adding he also directed for measures for improvement of the surface of the Horse Polo ground. He stated that Drass has good potential for winter sports and tourism that need to be developed with proper planning.
The concerned officers informed the Secretary that a site has also been identified for development of necessary infrastructure for Snow Skiing site and snow scooter activities. He also visited the Indoor Sports Stadium at Drass where a Karate team welcomed him and demonstrated Karate. To develop and extend the Indoor Stadium, the Secretary instructed the concerned officers to prepare proposal in this regard.
The Secretary also visited the 2×750 KW Biaras Mini Hydel Project and took stock of its overall functioning.
Later, public representatives including PRI members and Chairperson BDC, Drass also met with the Secretary at Tourist Bungalow Drass and projected various demands and issues of the public.
Secretary Ravinder after giving a patient hearing to all issues assured the public delegations of suitable follow up for redressal.
