President EJAC Kargil, Various Teachers’ Bodies call on CEC, Kargil
KARGIL MARCH 13, 2021: President Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC), Kargil and various teachers’ bodies called on the Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan at the Council Secretariat here today.
The delegations commended the bold step taken by LAHDC Kargil to streamline the education system in the district. All the delegations unequivocally stated that the general transfers, which were carried out recently, was a long pending issue of the teaching fraternity. They said that it will go a long way in improving the education standard in the district.
On the occasion, the visiting delegations thanked the LAHDC Kargil for taking due care to effect intra-zone transfers as suggested by various teachers’ bodies from time to time besides inclusion of the stipulated time frame of 2 years of the transfers in the transfer order. They also appreciated the straight forward approach of the LAHDC Kargil with regards to acknowledging that some discrepancies were bound to be there in the transfers as it was carried out after a decade further reiterating their support and cooperation to the LAHDC in its endeavors to improve the standard of education in the district.
The visiting delegations also brought 70 to 80 transfer cases with discrepancies to the notice of the CEC, Kargil and requested him to rectify them at the earliest.They also requested that the initiatives taken by the LAHDC Kargil should be brought to their logical conclusion by framing a transparent transfer policy as stated in the transfer note issued by the Chief Education Officer Kargil.
CEC Feroz Ahmad Khan patiently listened to the issues raised by the visiting delegations and expressed gratitude to EJAC Kargil and all teachers’ bodies for their support and cooperation. He said that education was a priority sector for the LAHDC Kargil and that the present transfer was an effort towards improving the educational scenario in the district. He assured the delegations that LAHDC Kargil will take all necessary steps to study the genuine cases of transfers with discrepancies and rectify them on merit soon.
Interacting with the visiting delegations Chairman/CEC LAHDC Kargil stated that the dignity of the the teaching profession was paramount as teaching is a noble profession responsible to build the future of society. He stated that in order to instill a sense of pride among the members of teaching fraternity across all levels, directions would be passed soon to the Department of Education to take due care of the dignity of the teachers while dealing with them on an office setting so that they are treated with due respect and attended by the concerned officers in all seriousness and time-bound redressal of their issues is ensured.
CEC Khan said that LAHDC Kargil will ensure that whenever a teacher approaches the LAHDC Kargil including all levels of administrative offices of the education department, his/her case would be listened on priority basis. The Directorate of School Education shall also be taken into confidence to redress issues of the teaching fraternity on priority basis, he said.
“In order to improve the grievance redressal mechanism in the district, the LAHDC Kargil will initiate installation of grievance boxes in all offices. This initiative shall begin from the Council Secretariat followed by the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex and all other district/sub-district/zonal offices.
Grievances of the teaching fraternity received in grievance boxes shall be accorded priority during the redressal stage”, CEC Khan said.
The CEC sought cooperation from all members of the teaching fraternity to perform their duties with utmost sincerity, more so in the present situation when the education system is reviving in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. He urged the teaching fraternity to be a responsible role model in observance of the SOPs to keep COVID-19 at bay. Further, in presence of the president EJAC Kargil he stressed on the need for a singular representative body of the teaching fraternity so that all the stake holders are part of the process of improvement of the education system.
