LG Mathur inaugurates solar submersible carbon neutral pump at Latoo
KARGIL, MARCH 24, 2021: Lieutenant Governor Ladakh Radha Krishna Mathurinaugurated41 HP (50 KW) solar submersible carbon neutral pump at Latoo here today.
The pump has a water lifting capacity at a direct head range of 130-160 meters that discharges water at 54 cubic meters per hour.
Chairman and CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan, Executive Councillor for Social Welfare Aga Syed Hassan Armaan, Executive Councillor for Works Mubarak Shah Nagvi, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, SSP Kargil Anayat Ali Choudhary besides district officers were present on the occasion.
The LG Ladakh also interacted with public delegations at Latoo village to know about their issues and developmental needs.
Interacting with the delegations, LG Mathur said that the people of Latoo village have gone through tough times due to displacement twice. Wishing for prosperity and development of Latoo village, he assured support from the UT Administration in addressing their issues.
The LG congratulated the CEC Kargil,former DC Kargil Baseerul Haq Choudhary and KREDA for making this project a successful one. He further stated that with the coming up of the solar submersible pump a long pending demand of Latoo village has been fulfilled which will enhance irrigation and ease daily life in the village.
Responding to the memorandum submitted by the villagers, the LG said that UT Administration and the LAHDC Kargil both will do the needful to address their demands.
The LG said that there is no dearth of funds but the major challenge is to ensure proper utilization of these funds. He further urged the villagers to take up the responsibility to ensure judicious use, maintenance and proper water distribution from this project.
Speaking on the occasion, CEC Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan said that the solar water pump was taken as a pilot project for which Rs 30 lacs was provided by the LAHDC, Kargil and Rs 20 lacs by KREDA to complete the project.
The LG later chaired the valedictory session of Kaushal Mela-Skill Development Workshop organized by the Department of Technical Education and Skill Development and Information and Public Relations Department Ladakh at the Auditorium Hall Kargil.
CEC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan, Executive Councilors, Secretary Technical Education and Skill Development Ladakh Padma Angmo, DC Kargil, SSP Kargil, other district officers, expert speakers from different parts of the country besides participants in good number were present during the event which was also streamed through Facebook Live.
The LG expressed happiness and satisfaction on the overwhelming participation of youth in the workshop. He said that the youth are the future who have the responsibility to enhance Ladakh’s economy. He said that the Government of India is focusing on skill development among youth to ensure more intake in private jobs and entrepreneurship. Taking example of South Korea where 94 percent of people have developed different skills, the LG urged the youth to learn skills in different trades and take maximum benefits from such workshops.
LG Mathur said that the UT Administration Ladakh is looking forward to develop differentjob oriented and Ladakh relevant skill development courses to make the local youth skillful. As an instance, he cited plumbing, electrician works, carpentry, pashmina production, sea buckthorn production, animal and sheep husbandry sector and other related sectors where the local youth can take private jobs and also become entrepreneurs after acquiring the necessary technical skills.
Later, the LG visited the Public Library in Kargil Town where the members of Students’ Education Movement of Ladakh briefed him about the various facilities which need to be developed in the library. The SEMOK delegation urged to dismantle the existing building and construct a new one to ensure more intake and facilities in the library.
The LG also took stock of the internet facilities, books, reading room, reading hours etc. He assured to take all required measures to provide a good reading environment to the youth.
Later, the LG also met more than 25 public delegations at Tourist Facilitation Center, Kargil to know about their issues and grievances.
The LG gave a patient hearing to the issues and grievances put forth by the delegations and assured to consider them for suitable follow up.
