Leh, March 3: Secretary, Labour Department, Ravinder Kumar today issued a circular regarding the fixation of minimum labour rate in UT Ladakh.

Secretary Labour stated in the circular that fixing the labour rate by organisations and public representatives is against the norms as per the Minimum Wages Act under section 3(2).

He impressed upon the organisations (both government and non-government) not to carry out such exercises and stressed that only the Labour Department is authorised to fix minimum wages. He warned that the organisation found guilty would be dealt with as per the Labour Laws and other legal provisions.

He also stated that the rate fixed by any organisation other than the Labour Department would stand null and void.
