Baseej-e-Zaraat delegation called on LG Mathur
KARGIL, MARCH 25, 2021: A delegation of the Baseej-e-Zaraat wa Baghbani (BZB), agriculture and horticulture wing of IKMT submitted a detailed project report to the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh R K Mathur regarding their achievements and projects on permaculture in Kargil District.
The goal of the project is to promote develop and disseminate micro irrigation Technology for agriculture and horticulture development with modern scientific knowledge. The organization is working with an aim to enhance the traditional farming with scientific modules to increase produce and generate income to the grassroots farmers.
“We beg to submit our few Initiatives we have undertaken over the need of scientific modules of Farming in Kargil Ladakh to create value addition of farmers’ produces and to insight Student community about their future livelihood concerns in the region especially in Kargil”, maintained the memorandum submitted to the LG Ladakh.

In this connection this NGO is working upon a Project named as “Parma-culture” incorporated with 08 major components that are, High Density Fruits orchards, Green House farming for winter season, Hydroponic farming for Urban Vegetation, Apricot Gene pool, Vegetable nursery Farm, Sea buck thorn cultivation and its processing, Medicinal Plant/ Floriculture cultivation and Forestary.
The LG Ladakh while appreciating the members of BZB said that the project is relevant to the key goals and aims of the UT Ladakh administration in the field of agriculture and horticulture.
On the issue of codling moth pest in apple and apricot of Ladakh due to which it is not able to export for marketing outside Ladakh, the LG said that the UT administration is looking forward towards Gama Rays processing as a panacea to the pests. After the Gama Rays processing the apricot and apple would be able to export for marketing outside Ladakh.
The LG instructed the BZB members to take up their projects with Deputy Commissioner Kargil also for proper and effective implementation.
The BZB delegation was comprised of President BZB Ex Councillor Mohammad Ali, Organising secretary Er Ahmad Ali, and Apricot Coordinator Zakir Hussain Zaidi.
