CEC Khan Discusses Developmental works with ECs, DC Kargil
KARGIL,FEBRUARY 22, 2021: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan held a meeting with the Executive Councillors and the Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil to discuss the status of various on-going works, schemes and other developmental activities in Kargil district, at Council Secretariat here today.
Executive Councillor Works Aga Syed Arman, Executive Councillor Tourism Er Phunsok Tashi, Executive Councillor Health Muhammad Ali Chandan, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve and Chief Planning Officer Abdul Hadi were present in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting the CEC said that before the closure of financial year, maximum expenditure must be ensured under various works.

CEC Khan further said that during the year 2021, there is every possibility that 60% of Kargil experiences a drought like situation due to less snowfall this year, therefore a strategy needs to be drafted to deal with the upcoming drought and in this regard, first priority should be the identification of drought hit areas.
Making mention of the planning process for various works, the CEC said that the planning process needs to go through the Executive Councillors and the DC Office so that duplicacy of works can be avoided.
With the re-opening of the Zojila Pass during coming days, Khan said that the arrival of Kargili population coming from Jammu and the laborers coming across the country should be strictly checked and proper testing needs to be ensured in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Khan asked the DC Kargil to direct the Health Department to brief about the preparations of establishing screening points and test centres at Meenamarg and logistics and machinery required in this regard.
Feroz Khan said that follow up measures are needed to be taken regarding the evacuation of Kurbathang Plateau by the Army and earliest disbursal of paper works should be done regarding the allocation of land to give them allotted land at Maratha Point Kurbathang and Mulbekh.
Reviewing the status of Kargil Airport, the CEC said that a team was supposed to conduct a survey of Kargil Airport, which has not happened till this date and directed the DC Kargil to take up the matter with the UT Administration.
The CEC also said that a traffic policy needs to drafted for Kargil Town, adding that the recruitment of 300 Class IV employees is on a halt, which needs to mitigated and solved.
The DC Kargil while referring to the issue of unemployment said that employment generation needs to designed and focus needs to be on self-employment to alter the situation. He said that Government schemes need to be implemented at ground level with maximum outcome.
Several issues related to the re-opening of schools also came up for thorough discussion during the meeting.
Moreover, pace of progress achieved on the construction of 300-bedded hospital, establishment of Engineering College in the district and various other works were discussed at length and decisions were taken accordingly.
