Kargil/ Jan. 17: Executive Councilor (EC) for Tourism Er Phunsog Tashi along with the Executive Councilor for Health Muhammad Ali Chandan and Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Kargil Tsering Motup today visited Shargole to take stock of the arrangements being put in place for the upcoming Traditional Food Festival Mamani to be held at Shargole on 20th January, 2021.

The traditional food festival is scheduled to be held at Government Higher Secondary School Shargole where the Lieutenant Governor Ladakh Radha Krishna Mathur will be the chief guest.

Chairperson Block Development Council Shargole Tsering Nurboo, Assistant Director Tourism Syed Towha Aga, Tehsildar Shargole Muhammad Hassan, Sarpanchs, Panchs besides officers of various departments were present on the occasion.

During the visit, EC Tourism Phunsog Tashi asked the concerned officers to ensure all necessary arrangements including sitting arrangements, security, snow clearance of the premises, adequate power and water supply, medicare, transport facility for participants and all other required arrangements well in time.

EC Tashi asked the event organizers to put banners of all the historical monuments of Kargil district to showcase its importance to the dignitaries and audience during the festival.  

The EC further said that the Mamani festival is part of the annual events of the Department of Tourism Kargil and has been approved by the Department of Tourism, UT Ladakh.  Underlining the importance of the Mamani Festival for tourism promotion in Kargil district in general and Shargole area in particular and in view of the VVIPs visit, EC Muhammad Ali Chandan who is also the Councilor of Shargole constituency sought cooperation and support of Panchayat representatives of Tehsil Shargole and local people of the area to make the event successful.
