Kargil/ Dec. 31: Director, Urban Local Bodies (ULB), Ladakh Dr Zahida Banoo called on the Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil here on Wednesday and discussed the status of various ongoing as well as upcoming developmental projects pertaining to urban development in Kargil district.

Councilor Kargil Town Haji Muhammad Abbass, President Municipal Committee (MC), Kargil Zaheer Hussain Babar besides other concerned officers were present during the meeting.

During the course of the meeting, among other issues, need for construction of an office building for Municipal Committee (MC), Kargil, establishment of wash facility for municipal workers, need for expediting the process of expansion of municipal limits of Kargil Town, formation of policy in MC Kargil for revenue generation so that it becomes self-sufficient and other related issues came up for thorough discussion.

The transfer of Sher Bagh from the Forest Department to MC Kargil, development of green spaces, the establishment of children’s parks and related infrastructure in and around Kargil Town were other issues which were also discussed threadbare.    CEC Kargil assured the Director ULB Ladakh that suitable land would be allotted for the establishment of the office building for MC Kargil while the LAHDC Kargil is committed to extending all-out support and cooperation for smooth implementation of all the ongoing as well as upcoming projects and developmental works in Kargil District.
