Kargil/ Dec. 29: In Charge Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Zanskar Tsewang Rigzin inaugurated an ice hockey rink at Zangla here on Monday.

The rink has been constructed by the Rural Development Department, Kargil at a cost of Rs 25.63 lacs under MGNREGA

Block Development Council (BDC) Chairperson Zanskar Block Stanzin Sangdup, SHO Zanskar, Officer Commanding GREF Zanskar, OC Army Camp Zanskar besides other sub divisional officers were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion the In Charge SDM hailed the efforts of the locals of Zangla for ensuring completion of the rink in a short span of time.

Meanwhile, the BDC Chairperson Zanskar expressed gratitude to the Block Development Officer (BDO) Zanskar and his team for their efforts in the sanctioning and execution of work on the construction of this rink which would prove quite fruitful to the young and budding sportspersons in the area and also help in the promotion of winter sports.

On the occasion, the In Charge SDM also kicked off 15 Days Ice Hockey Coaching Camp which is being organized by the Zanskar Winter Sports Foundation.

Meanwhile, colorful Zanskari folk music and dance performances were also presented by the local artists.
