Leh/ Dec. 17/ A meeting was convened under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Leh Sachin Kumar Vaishya with the members of District-level export promotion committee regarding the preparation of District Export Plan today at his office chamber.
 
The Chairman asked the departments concerned for identification of export potential of their respective departments and to prepare a district export action plan for increasing export of the identified products. The action plan shall focus on support required by the industry from production to export stage.
 
The Committee shall also identify bottlenecks in export of potential products and act as a one-point facilitator for export promotion at the district level.
 
To give an impetus to exports from the ground level, the Deputy Commissioner Leh asserted that Ladakh has great potential and setting up of district-level committees would help to achieve full potential. The committee will work in close coordination with all departments for promoting the district as an export hub. He directed the committee members to create subgroups within the department and to identify unique products by involving manufacturers, artisans, exporters and submit the report within 10 days. He further directed the committee for monitoring of sub-group activities for export promotion of products and issues related to export.
 
Earlier, the Joint Director General of Foreign Trade explained the guidelines and framework of the export promotion committee and highlighted the importance of export promotion to boost local economy and country economy as well. She further stressed on exploring the unique and hidden product of the region.
 
Joint Director General of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, GoI, Chief Planning Officer, Tsewang Gyalson, General Manager DIC, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture, Chief Animal Husbandry and Manager Lead Bank attended the meeting.
